Friends of St Andrew’s

Registered Charity No: 1010538

The Friends of St. Andrew’s, Moretonhampstead, was established in 1992 to raise funds to help with the preservation, repair, maintenance, restoration, improvement and ornamentation of the fabric of the Church of St. Andrew’s, Moretonhampstead.  We also contribute to those expenses relating to the upkeep of the organ and choir, the building and the bells.  The Friends is administrated by a Committee and our Acting Chairman is John Mann, the Secretary is Kathy Warner and the Treasurer is Julia Mockett.  Committee members include Carolyn Pearl, Penny Laflin, Irene Course, Linda Collier and the PCC representative is Joe Scaife, the Church Warden.

There are a number of ways you can help us to raise funds for our lovely church, for example, becoming a member of the Friends or making a donation to the charity.  We are presently focused on raising money to restore the bell tower and the metal bell frame and until sufficient funds are available for these repairs, sadly the bells will remain silent.

The cost of membership is (a) Life membership £100 upwards, (b) Ordinary £5 upwards per annum, (c) Family (parents and children) £10 upwards per annum and (d) Corporate, School, company or organisation £25 upwards per annum.  Forms can be obtained from Julia Mockett.  Donations can be made via the Virgin Money Giving website – see the hyperlink at the end of this article.

Alternatively, you can help by attending one of the events we hold during the year to raise funds for the society, the details of which can be found in the News in Moreton.  However, every year we hold a major fund raising event and you will be familiar with past occasions such as the Spring Fayre at Mardon and the Secret Gardens around Moretonhampstead.

Our main event in 2016 will be the Spring Fayre and Dog Show at Linscott, near Howton, on Saturday 4th June, (see Forthcoming Events), so please come along and support us.  There will be plenty of things to do for all the family.  Further details will follow in the News in Moreton.  Tickets will be available nearer the time from the Information Centre and on the day in The Square.  Raffle tickets will be on sale outside the Co-Op on the Saturdays preceding 4th June.

If you require any further information on membership, donations or this year’s special event then please contact me or a member of the committee and thank you very much for your support.
